Baker King, Kim Tak Gu Episode 18 Summary

I love this episode, really! Despite the terrible heartbreak for Tak Gu thanks to Majun’s evil plan, I love the way they end this episode. I have to say it’s…romantic :) . If you read through this summary, you’ll get what I mean..

Tak Gu was left waiting for Yu Gyong to come until midnight. He had no idea what his girl had been through that night. Majun dragged her out of the house, but Yu Gyong fought back and decided to continue on being stupid by going back to the house to face the vicious madame Seo.

And what she got from that madame for all her determination? an aplause would be impossible. A hard slap on the face was not a surprise at all. Nice try, Yu Gyong…

It was already midnight when Yu Gyong came to the meeting point. The devoted Tak Gu never left. So, for the first time after being separated for two years, the two lovers met. It was a very emotional meeting, especially for Yu Gyong. She had had a very bad day…so I guess weeping in the arms of Tak Gu’s big hands were very soothing.

Meanwhile, Director Gu insisted on meeting Tak Gu. But Jin Gu said he wouldn’t let Director Gu disturbed Tak Gu’s emotion within the competition times. So then Director Gu finally realized that all these times, his lost son was so close to him. Tak Gu was there, at Palbong bakery and they actually had met. I think I understood why he became so angry to Majun for keeping this huge information as a secret from him. Forgiveness would be a very hard thing to get for Majun.

The lovers had a wonderful night. They even made a promise to go on a vacation together right after the competition was over. But tomorrow had always been another day…and when it came, reality was so far from good for Yu Gyong. She was restationed to another place,,,a very shabby place to work at. I think it’s an old warehouse or something. Poor Yu Gyong had to survive this too.

Meanwhile, the curious Mr. Han was investigating Kim Misun’s doctor. He almost caught Misun, but the lady was quicker. He didn’t get what he wanted.

Back at Palbong Bakery, the second round of the competition began. The theme was “the most amusing bread.” The three had to eliminate a certain ingredient and that, according to Mr. Palbong, what’s gonna make the bread amusing.

Tak Gu was in a very good mood that day and Misun, whom I bet had fallen for him, was at the opposite mood. She knew that Tak Gu was going back to Yu Gyong and she might be losing him…as a friend and as a man she liked.

The angry Majun begged his father to forgive him. I could see that Majun never grew up in this case. He had always been the angry and jealous Majun who was hungry for his father’s love. And when he yelled at Mr. Han…somehow I could sense that secretly, Majun had long known that he was the son of that man. He just so desperate to gain Director Gu’s love and attention to acknowledge him as his real son.

The upset Majun visited Yu Gyong at that shabby place. He told her not to forgive everyone who had done this to her. He even purposed her to be his woman for revenge. He allowed her to use him, regardless to whom she’s giving her heart to.

I couldn’t hate Majun in this case. I saw his anger as very humane… and I could see the angry little boy in his eyes. Joo Won played the character very well.

Tak Gu was visiting Yu Gyong that night. He wanted to give her his successful bread. But the next thing he witnessed was so heartbreaking. The evil Majun knew Tak Gu was looking, so he acted as if he kissed Yu Gyong…

Yu Gyong went upstair without knowing that the two men almost had a fight. Majun’s fist of course not as good as Tak Gu, but his sharp tounge really beat his sibling. “Not Yu Gyong neither father do not want a guy like you. You are no more than a trash.”

Tak Gu definitely broke down. His world was falling down. No hope no love…lies beat him up.

It was raining heavily…and when Tak Gu felt he had no one else in this whole world…there came his own father! Yup, Director Gu was there! He had been waiting in front of the bakery to meet Tak Gu. I just love this scene and I was so touched…ooohh T_T

Tak Gu invited his father to dry himself at the bakery. Director Gu then saw Tak Gu’s bread and asked if he could taste it…Tak Gu then made the bread in front of his father. The next scene was so touching that I almost cried. If it hadn’t been for the hot bread that made me drooling, I would probably have cried a stream…

Director Gu was crying eating his son’s delicious bread. He then embraced Tak Gu after all these years…and called him “Tak Gu, my son.”

Oh My God! It’s so suffocatingly touching…I love this episode. I love the way they didn’t over-dramatized Tak Gu’s misery and instead, gave him hope. Life was not that unfair for him. He still got a loving father… it’s so romantic in its own way. :)

The soundtrack really fits this episode’s ending :left:

the ending part…sniff..sniff.. i cried buckets. especially when you hear takgu cried his heart out..what with him losing him mom and dad. oh my, what a drama!

if only ma jun had told his father earlier.. i would think the chairman will be eternally grateful to him and might at last treat him better. Surely he has enough love for his two sons. btw, do you think the chairman know that ma jun is not his biological son? Hmmm… :?
